Discuses the differences and similarities of Hamlet and the Lion King

Mufasa and Hamlet sr
- King Hamlet was a beloved king of Denmark who ruled in peace and prosperity. He is the protagonist of Hamlet which he was betrayed by his brother Claudius who murdered him with poison to become king. He then returned as a ghost to guide Hamlet junior though the plot of the story. In comparison in Mufasa too was a proud leader of his nation. He was a father of Simba, the main character of the lion king. He was brutally murdered by his brother scare to get his kingdom. His premonition also guides Simba to reclaim the kingdom
Claudius was the uncle of hamlet of the antagonist of the play. He murdered king hamlet and took his wife. Claudius is described as the villain of the play Claudius is a calculating ambushes politician, driven by his sexual appetites and his lust for power.
Scare was the uncle of Simba in the lion king and he also killed his brother to sake the throne. he is the main antagonist of the story and took his dead brothers wife and kingdom just as Claudius did.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are a pair of characters that provide relief from the main focus of the story, however they also serve a constant reminder of Hamlet about the revenge it must be exact it must be against Claudius. By being messengers to the morbal prince whoever Claudius needs him to be.
Timon and Pumbaa also provide relief in the main conflict in the story. They similarly one time procure simbas path from his memories. This jogging sambas memorie at the probany timon and pumbaa moves the story on ward. Both Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and Timon Pumbaa provide a common relief relation element to the story that distracts the reader to the emotionally tenacity by hand. When hamlet needs someone to turn to, he variably turns to Horatio. Hamlet trust Horatio with all of his secrets and rightly so. Because of the bond they build, he even volunteers to take his own life instead of letting hamlet die. Horatio has been with hamlet for his entire life. Spending the military, college and the corse of the play with his friend.

Culminating Activity Writing a series of Linked Posts

Three modern day countries that are considered to be totalitarian are North Korea, Cuba and Egypt.

North Korea has been one of the world’s secretive societies. The totalitarian state of North Korea stands accused of systematic human rights abuse. The country emerged in 1948 after world war two. North Korea also stands accused for torturing civilians, public executions and infanticides in prison camps. They estimated that there are up to 200,000 political prisoners in North Korea

Cuba began to decline after the Europeans discovered the island by Christopher Columbus in 1492 by following its development as a Spanish Colony during the next several centuries. The Europeans controlled the aspects of life through the Communist Party and its affiliated mass organizations. They are highly monitoring people, infiltrating, and controlling the country's beleaguered human rights community.Large numbers of African slaves were imported to work the coffee and sugar plantations.Havana became the launching point for the annual treasure fleets bound for Spain from Mexico and Peru.Spanish rule eventually provoked an independence movement and occasional rebellions that were harshly suppressed.

Egypt became an important world transportation hub.....Egypt also fell heavily into debt.

Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882, but nominal allegiance to the Ottoman Empire continued until 1914. Partially independent from the UK in 1922, Egypt acquired full sovereignty with the overthrow of the British-backed monarchy in 1952.

2.) Four other infamous, historical totalitarian leaders that I chose were Joseph Stalin, Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler and Hideki Tojo

Joseph Stalin –
He was the Premier of the Soviet Union from May 6th 1941 to March 5th 1953.
-          Took power in the Soviet Union. He immediately started putting his opponents to death and began a ruthless program to build industry in the USSR, killing anyone who stood in his way.
Some examples of Totalitarian rules were
- Single party dictatorship, a communist party
- Ruled through fear and terror, Reign and Terror
- Secret police
- Used censorship and propaganda such as schools, newspapers, government

Benito Mussolini
-          Mussolini and his fascist followers, known as the “ Blackshirts”
-          Marched in Rome and seized power in Italy in 1922.
-          Mussolini was among the founders of Italian.
Some examples of Totalitarian rules were
-          No criminals state allowed
-          Used propaganda and censorship
-          Secret police, the OVRA which stands for

Adolf Hitler- In 1933 Adolf Hitler promised Germans that he would tear up the Treaty of Versailles. His Nazi Party won the elections and he was appointed Chancellor of Germany.
-          He quickly gathered all power in his own hands and began arresting communists, trade unionists and Jews.
Some examples of Totalitarian rules
-          Preached service to the state
-          Developed idea of Aryans, master race, who needed to be purified and regain land that was rightfully theirs.

Hideki Tojo – During the Great Depression nations could not afford to buy Japanese goods and many factories closed.
-Japanese blamed the democracy movement for the economic problems and thought that a return to military.
Problems that occurred were, unhappiness over loss of traditions
Loss of foreign markets due to Great Depression.

4.) The modern day ploice services use electonic devices to track people
Since GPS and mobile phones divices  came out everything has been more convient for police officers to track a certain individual, . Not having privacy is pretty scary. Police officers can now track you like you wouldn’t know it. They are using this divice to track suspects. Not only that it’s a huge privacy concern to use citizens but they have used it. One example was William Bradley Jackson that was convicted of murdering his daughter. Police secretly attached a GPS device to his car which tracked him where he went to dig up her body. Now that they have this divice its been convient for them.

8.) Blogs/Twitter/Facebook Used to Resist a Totalitarian State?

6.) One video relevent to Hamlet was RSC: The Othello Rap.
This video was hilarious it gave me a great chuckle. They busted out a rhyme about hamlet. This video was a William Shakespeare Abridged to animal farm and Hamlet. The video was relevant because Animal Farm shows us what can happen when people have too much power and they don't want to relinquish that power. They'll do anything to keep it for as long as possible. It also shows us that power can change us until we become the very thing that we loathe. The pigs get away with so much because none of the animals can read. The pigs change them at will and the animals have no recourse. I think Animal Farm is most relevant because it teaches the dangers of ignorance and the importance of reading and literacy in general. heres a link that i provided below. watch this video you will have a great laugh.

1989 Tiananmen Square Protests

 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre

The Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 were a series of students that led pro democracy demonstrations in the People's Republic of China, which occurred between April 15, 1989 and June 4, 1989. The protests ended in violence when the 27th Army of the People's Republican Army used force to restore order in the capital city.

Below I have a video of Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who became internationally famous when he was videotaped and photographed during the Tiananmen Square protests on 5 June 1989.

Orwell's theme in Animal Farm is that when regimes begin with good intentions, the ensuing power corrupts the leadership and the people are fare no better than before. As for Tienanmen, the Chinese Communists which is similar to the pigs repress any criticism of the regime leadership.

On May 4, approximately 100,000 students and workers peacefully marched in Beijing demanding democratic reforms and protesting government corruption. On May 20 the government declared martial law. However, the demonstrations continued. After deliberation among Communist party leaders, the government ordered a forceful military resolution. Troops and tanks from China's 27th Army advanced into Tiananmen Square. On June 3 and 4, the People's Liberation Army violently confronted the pro-democracy supporters.  Students maintain that over 7000 were killed. Injuries are generally held to have numbered from 7,000 to 10,000, including casualties among  troops. Following the violence, the government conducted widespread arrests to suppress the remaining supporters of the movement, limited access for the foreign press and controlled coverage of the events in the Chinese press. The violent suppression of the Tiananmen Square protest caused widespread international condemnation of the Chinese government.
